Darington Charity Fun Run
Employees from Arriva North East’s Darlington depot have taken part in a Fancy Dress Fun Run in aid of Genetics UK & Dementia UK. The day was fun filled with the aim of raising awareness and vital funds for both charities. An impressive £3000 was raised in total which will be spilt across the two charities. This included donated prizes from local businesses and a donation of £500 from Arriva North East.
The charities are very close to home for two Darlington depot employees. Hayley Mason, cash clerk at Darlington depot, who took part for her 19 month old son Harrison who despite months of tests, has yet to receive a full genetic diagnosis.
Darlington driver Michael Connolly also participated to support his Grandad who suffers from Dementia.
Hayley Mason, Cash Clerk at Darlington depot said; “It was a fun way of raising funds and awareness. Genetics UK have been amazing with Harrison, so we wanted to fundraise to support their efforts. We just hope that one day in the near future we will have a full diagnosis.”
John Rochford, general manager at Arriva Darlington said: “As a company we are committed to supporting our staff both in and outside of work; it’s great that the staff are going out of their way to raise awareness and money for these fantastic charities.
Well Done Darlington
