Travelling around Swadlincote
For the friendliest of welcomes, Swad (as it's known to the locals) is hard to beat. With its wonderfully rich pottery, mining heritage and its great sense of community pride, this lovely town in Derbyshire is one of the most welcoming places to visit. Located in the heart of the National Forest, there is much to see and do here.
Swadlincote possesses a charming contrast between the old town and new world, with the focus on both preserving its fascinating history and embracing the new. It boasts a pottery museum, a ski and snow centre, an urban park and an excellent shopping centre. As the sun goes down, there's a cinema, real ale pubs and a variety of restaurants for a relaxing evening.
Thanks to its central location, Swadlincote boasts excellent transport links. With regular buses to Derby that include stops at Chellaston and Melbourne, travelling to Swadlincote with Arriva buses is a piece of cake.
