Travelling around Stafford
Stafford, apparently, ranks as one of the happiest places to live in the whole of the UK. It could be the award-winning parks, the close proximity to the countryside or the bustling town centre, but whatever it is, this smart Midlands town is well worth a visit.
Whether you’re thinking of visiting the town or you’re a resident looking for something to do this weekend, then there’s always something to keep you entertained. Stop at the legendary Stafford Castle, stroll around the natural beauty of Cannock Chase (or one of Stafford’s multitude of parks, farms or nature reserves) or visit Go Ape and really get the adrenaline flowing!
Board an Arriva bus in Stafford and travel to Lichfield, Telford, Cannock and many, many more places besides.
There are plenty of chances to get active in leafy Stafford and nowhere are the views more impressive than in Cannock Chase. Lookout for the groups of deer that roam around, spot fairies(!) or get on your bike and explore this huge Area of Natural Beauty.
If history is your thing, then a visit to Shugborough is sure to please. This historic estate features costumed characters that bring your visit to life. Explore the difference between ‘upstairs’ and ‘downstairs’ as you walk through the servants’ quarters and then make your way to the grand house. There’s a gift shop, fun train ride, tearoom, craft workshops and much more.
Animal lovers should stop at Rodbaston Animal Zone where little ones can enjoy a hands-on experience with meerkats and lemurs. The Zone has over 750 animals (including monkeys, rabbits and alpacas) who are all taken care of by the knowledgeable staff. A great day out for the whole family.
