Travelling around Loughborough

There is history, culture and sports a-plenty in Loughborough, so whatever your interests, you certainly won’t be short of things to do here. There are plenty of family and outdoor activities, as well as excellent shopping in the town centre.
Its central location means that Loughborough has excellent transport links. The train station has regular links to London St Pancras, Nottingham, Sheffield and beyond. With easy access to the M1 and the M6, driving here is simple. Arriva buses operate in the area, so getting around is a piece of cake. There are regular bus routes to Leicester, Shepshed and Coalville.
If history is your thing, then a trip aboard the Great Central Railway between Leicester and Loughborough is sure to please. This is the UK’s only mainline heritage railway and the only place in the world where steam trains run past one another as they did when steam ruled the rails! It’s a great fun day out for young and old alike.
There is ample green space and parkland in Loughborough, making it the perfect place for a picnic! Head to Beacon Hill Country Park for amazing views from the summit or Queens Park, where manicured lawns and vibrant flower displays make it great for a visit at any time of year.
Loughborough offers an excellent shopping experience with many household names, such as TK Maxx, Topshop and Next, all side by side. You can also head to Ashby Road and Square for a great mix of independent restaurants and cool vintage shops or visit Loughborough Wharf for waterside dining.
