Travelling around Derby
There’s plenty to see and do in the friendly East Midlands city of Derby. While it may be one of the furthest points from the sea in the UK, what it lacks in coastline, it more than makes up for in excellent parkland. Derby’s Arboretum Park is England’s first public park and was supposedly the inspiration for New York’s Central Park.
And that’s not all, lovers of the great outdoors will find plenty of places to walk and explore nature. Boasting a rather impressive 14 museums, Derby is also a great spot to learn about the region’s industrial past, so history buffs will be very happy here.
With great rail connections to Birmingham, London and Manchester (one of the perks of being in the centre of the UK), Derby has unrivalled transport links. Getting around the city is a piece of cake too, thanks to the regular Arriva bus services, and there are routes that travel to Burton Upon Trent, Swadlincote and many more places besides.
