Wales young persons’ bus travel scheme

Arriva Cymru confirms participation in the Wales young persons’ bus travel scheme.

Young people aged 16 to 21 will be able to ride on Arriva buses for just £1 or £3 for a day pass, whilst continuing to get up to 30% off longer term tickets.

The new scheme, which is funded by the Welsh Government will be extended to 5 to 15-year-olds from November (existing reduced fares for children will apply until then) Full details of the scheme can be found here https://mytravelpass.tfw.wales/

Lee Robinson (Executive Director for Regional Transport and Integration) said “We’re thrilled to see the launch of this scheme working in partnership with Welsh Government and operators across Wales. Initiatives like this are a great way of encouraging young people to use public transport”.

Carolyn Thomas Member of the Senedd for North Wales said “I have long been calling for a North Wales capped fares pilot and am delighted this scheme is being introduced by the Welsh Government which will help with affordability, encourage people to use public transport and help sustain bus services for everybody”

Adam Marshall Head of Commercial Arriva Cymru said “We welcome the launch of this scheme and look forward to participating. This initiative will cut the cost of travel for young people and make a real difference to the communities we service. In addition, we have also been working with TfW to provide additional capacity with a number of service enhancements planned for September”
