Service changes in the North West
21 January 2024
We are making changes to our bus services across Merseyside and the North West from 21st January 2024.
There will be changes to some routes and timetables, with some services enhanced to meet new levels of demand but also some reductions where demand has fallen and some general timetable changes.
There are also changes to some routes due to the levels of congestion we are experiencing in Liverpool City Centre.
The full list of service changes is as follows:
We have been delighted to see the number of people using these services grow in recent months with significant passenger growth and as we react to these new patterns of demand, we are increasing the frequency on these services:
Service 10, St Helens to Liverpool Queen Square
Monday to Friday frequency increased to every 15 minutes
Service 329, Warrington to St Helens
Monday to Saturday frequency increased to every 30 minutes
Service 68, Bootle to Aigburth Vale
There will be an increased frequency to every 15 minutes in the section between Bootle and Old Swan, journeys finishing in Old Swan will create a new link to Broad Green hospital every 30 mins. Journeys through to Aigburth will be on a reduced 30 minute frequency.
Due to issues with congestion in Liverpool City Centre the following changes will maintain connectivity, whilst significantly improving our service delivery levels, minor changes to time will also be made:
Service 7, Warrington to Liverpool
Service to no longer serve Liverpool One Bus station, instead the service will use the new Liverpool Lime Street Linkway finishing at Queen Square.
New route towards city;
Brownlow Hill – Ranelagh Street – Great Charlotte St – left at Elliot St on to the new link way and left into Queen Square bus station.
New route out of city;
Queen Square (stand 8) – Crosshall Street – Victoria Street – St John’s Lane – link way – Lime Street – Renshaw Street
We have service 10A which operates every 7/8 minutes combined with Stagecoach as a service that can be used to make cross city journeys, which serves both Liverpool One and Queen Square bus stations.
Services 432, 433 and 437, New Brighton/West Kirby to Liverpool
Cook Street to be omitted in Liverpool City centre on Saturday and Sunday after 9am.
Instead, services will terminate at Whitechapel and start at Sir Thomas Street.
The number of people using these bus services has reduced, with the frequency reductions in line with the demand that we are experiencing and will deliver the long term sustainability of the service:
Service 17, Widnes to St Helens
Saturday frequency reduced to 60 minutes
Services 12 and 13, Stockbridge Village to Liverpool Circular
Monday to Sunday evenings (from 7pm onwards) there will be a slight reduction in frequency to a combined 20 minute frequency.
Service 360, Wigan to Warrington
Monday to Saturday frequency reduced to 60 minutes
These timetables have been revised to improve reliability and respond to customers’ feedback. There is no change to frequency or route:

We continuously review all our routes to make sure that we provide customers with the best service that we can, while also ensuring we are able to continue operating a stable bus network over the longer term.
Following a gradual decline in passenger numbers through the pandemic, diminishing levels of funding, together with increases in inflationary costs pressures we are now in a position where we need to look at making changes to ensure that our bus network efficiently meets new travel patterns and demand and ultimately is sustainable.
After consultation with local authorities, unfortunately we have taken the decision to de-register the below services
Service 395, Ormskirk to Wigan
Last day of operation will be Saturday 20th January
Service 420, West Kirby to Liverpool
Last day of operation will be Friday 19th January
We would like to thank all our customers over the years who have travelled with us on services 395 and 420.
