As a result, Arriva will no longer operate the late evening journeys on this service. Passengers are advised to contact Nexus for further details of the replacement. Additionally, some poorly used early morning journeys are withdrawn.
Following a review of punctuality of the service, they will be a slight amendment to the timetable between Newcastle and Benton Asda. Journeys will still operate hourly between Newcastle – Holystone and Whitley Bay

Service 306 / 308 – Newcastle to Whitley Bay and Blyth
From Sunday 26th March, we are making amends to these two services following both Arriva and Go Northeast signing up to a Qualifying Agreement in partnership with Transport Northeast, Nexus and Northumberland County Council.
This new agreement will make it easier for passengers going forward, as part of the changes will allow passengers to board the first bus that turns up with whatever ticket they have, and it will be valid throughout their journey. A more coordinated timetable will also be introduced between both companies.
As a result of this, we are introducing a revised timetable on both the 306 and 308. Services will now operate up to every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday, every 30 minutes Sunday and hourly in an evening.
Service 306:
Most Monday to Saturday journeys on service 306 will now continue to Whitley Bay, which sees an increase of one bus per hour over this section. Within Whitley Bay, off peak journeys will now extend to Whitley Bay Seafront.
The current 2345 departure will be withdrawn from Newcastle and replaced by a Go Northeast 309 journey, do not worry your Arriva tickets will be valid on here also. The 2259 departure from Tynemouth will now terminate at Wallsend Station Road at 2326.
Service 308:
As well as the overall timetable review, a new early morning Monday to Friday journey will be introduced from Silverlink to Blyth, departing at 0535, arriving at Blyth at 0609.
Service 555 – Four Lane Ends to Quorum Park
Following discussions with Quorum Park, this service will be withdrawn and no longer operate after Friday 24th March. Passengers are advised that from this date, a new Quorum Free Zone will be introduced, which allows staff based on the Quorum Park free travel between Quorum and Four Lane Ends on any bus not just Arriva, with a valid form of ID. Customers should contact staff at The Hub [email protected] for details of how to receive the relevant ID required.
Service X14 – Newcastle to Morpeth and Thropton
Following discussions with National Trust, we are pleased to announce that several journeys will now divert to serve the Main Entrance of Cragside. This change will make it both easier and safer for visitors and staff alike to reach what is often considered to be Britain’s original smart home.
To accommodate this change, two morning journeys will arrive at Rothbury and Thropton 5 minutes later, with two afternoon departures departing 5 minutes earlier from Thropton and Rothbury. Please see the updated timetable for details of the new direct journeys to Cragside
