Salcey Forest

Visit Salcey Forest on 33 Service from 24th July

We’re partnering with Forestry England and Milton Keynes Council to put Salcey Forest firmly on the map this summer, with our 33 service extended to the forest, Monday to Saturday from 24 July.

Salcey Forest is an ancient woodland home to an array of wildlife and some of the oldest trees in the area. The forest has a huge range of walking trails, a family cycling trail plus a variety of children’s activities and a café on site, so whether you’re catching up with some friends or taking the family for a fun filled day out, there’s something for everyone at Salcey Forest.

Our great value Orbit Family Day ticket, available to buy on bus, online or on the app, is the perfect way to get to the Forest as a family too – giving unlimited Arriva bus travel for two adults and up to three children across Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire, and Buckinghamshire.

“We’re really excited by this new partnership with Forestry England.” Explains Andrew Godley, Commercial Director at Arriva.  “We’re constantly looking at ways of expanding our network to better connect communities and open up new destinations to the people of Milton Keynes, Northampton and surrounding villages.  Bringing Salcey Forest into that bus network for the first time gives us a unique opportunity to connect more people with nature, green spaces, and the great outdoors.”

Simon Fowler, Forest Centre Manager for Forestry England describes how the organisation is excited about this new partnership with Arriva. “Bringing an Arriva bus service to Salcey Forest will enable more communities and individuals to visit this magnificent ancient woodland and see the spectacle of some of the oldest trees in the area. We strive to ensure that our woodlands offer a great value day out for residents of Milton Keynes and Northampton and this certainly does just that! This unique opportunity means that visitors arriving by bus will only need to pay the cost of the bus fare to visit Salcey Forest as there will be no parking fee attached to their visit. Better still, not only is a trip on a low emissions bus great fun but it also plays a huge part in reducing the impact carbon emissions have on our environment and the air we breathe.

This summer the magnificent ancient woodland of Salcey has a host of exciting activities for families, couples and individuals to do including the children’s Super Worm trail, bike hire, “play on the day” activity kit hire and a range of waymarked walking and running trails. And for those that would like to support the work we do looking after the spectacle of Salcey Forest there are opportunities to roll-up your sleeves and join one of our working volunteer groups or you could support us through our membership scheme.
