Remembrance Sunday North East Diversions

Sunday 10th November 2024

On Sunday 10th November, a number of towns and villages will be holding their annual Remembrance Sunday parades, as a result a number of services will be required to divert or omit areas during the time of the relevant road closures.

Berwick upon Tweed

+

Due to the closure of Castlegate and Marygate, the 1010 arrival into Berwick Rail Station and 1015 departure of service X18 will be required to divert. The journey towards Berwick will operate to Tweedmouth as usual then divert non stop via A698 and A1 By Pass to reach Berwick Rail Station. On return towards Seahouses and Alnwick, the service will once again operate via the A1 By Pass and A698 to reach Tweedmouth, before returning to normal route. Passengers are advised to use the stops at Berwick Rail Station or St Cuthberts School.
 

Scremerston

+

As a result of the closure of Scremerston Main Road from 1030, the 1015 Service X18 departure from Berwick will be unable to serve the village.
 

Alnwick

+

As a result of the closure of several roads within the Alnwick Town Centre from 1500 until approx. 1615, all arrivals and departures on services X15 and X18 during this time will divert from Barter Books via Prudhoe Street and Lisburn Street to reach Alnwick Bus Station, as a result stops at Alnwick Playhouse and on Green Batt will not be served during the time of the closure
 

Alnmouth

+

As a result of the closure of the B1338 / Northumberland Street roundabout in Alnmouth between 1030 and 1130, a number of X18 journeys will be unable to serve the area. The 0955 departure from Morpeth will be unable to serve the village northbound, passengers will be required to use the stops in Hipsburn Village. The 1018 and 1118 departures from Alnwick will also be unable to serve the village heading south, as a result again passengers should use stops within Hipsburn Village.
 

Hadston

+

Following the closure of the B1330 (Main Street) between 1000 and 1130, service X18 will be unable to serve the stops at Red Row, with buses diverting via Hadston Estate and the A1068 in both directions. This will effect the 0955 & 1055 departures from Morpeth towards Alnwick and the 0918 & 1018 towards Morpeth from Alnwick
 

Lynemouth

+

Due to the closure of Bridge Road / Albion Terrace between 1020 and 1120, service 1 will be required to divert. The 1025 departure from Blyth will be unable to serve Lynemouth, with the journey diverted from Wansbeck Hospital via the A1068 to reach Ellington Plough before continuing to Cresswell. The 1024 departure from Widdrington Stn will be unable to serve stops within Ellington and Lynemouth, passengers will be required to board at Ellington Plough, before the service diverts via the A1068 to reach Wansbeck Hospital.
 

Newbiggin by the Sea

+

As a result of the closure of Newbiggin Front Street between 1030 and 1115, services 35 and X21 will be required to divert. The 1021 service 35 from Woodhorn will operate as far as Seacrest Road, before diverting via A189 to reach North Seaton, as a result stops within Newbiggin centre and Spittal areas will not be served. The departure at 0921 from Morpeth will operate from North Seaton to Seacrest Road before terminating. The 0957 service X21 from Sandy Bay towards Newcastle will commence from Seacrest Road. The 1102 departure towards Newcastle will operate via the normal route with slight delays while roads reopen. 
 

Bedlington

+

Following the closure of Bedlington Front Street between 1400 and 1530, services will be required to divert via Schalksmuhle Road. Passengers for services 2, 43, X21 and X22 should use the stops at Glebe Road during the closure.
 

Morpeth

+

As a result of several road closures within the town between the hours of 1030 and 1200, services will be required to divert. Passengers are advised to use Morpeth Bus Station to board their services or Stobhill (Ser 2 and 43). Due to the diversions in place, stops within the Loansdean area will also be omitted. 
 

Express services X14, X15 and X18 will divert via A1 and Lancaster Park in both directions. Services 2 and 43 will be required to terminate at Stobhill during the road closures. Service 777 will operate to Loansdean as usual, then divert via A1 and Lancaster Park to reach Morpeth Bus Station. As a result of the diversions in place, services may run slightly behind the planned schedule.
 

Ponteland

+

Following the closure of Ponteland North Road and Main Street between 1040 and 1055 and again at 1140 and 1150, service 777 should be unaffected by this, however if delayed services will await the safe reopening of the road before continuing.
 

Blyth

+

As a result of the closure of Ridley Avenue between 1030 and 1230, service 308 will be required to divert via Waterloo Road and Rotary Way to reach Seaton Sluice, journeys will operate this diversion in both directions until the road has reopened. 
 

Cramlington

+

A short term closure of Dudley Lane is expected at some point between 0900 and 1130, all services will operate normal route in this area, however will be required to wait until the rolling road closure is cleared. 
 

Seaton Delaval

+

Due to the closure of Elsdon Avenue between 1030 and 1130, services 57A and X7 will be required to omit the area, journeys will serve Seaton Delaval Avenue Head as normal in both directions, unfortunately this will also mean stops are unserved at the Tillmouth Avenue area.
 

Seghill

+

Seghill Main Street will be closed between 1000 and 1130, as a result services 57A and X7 will be required to divert. Services towards North Shields and Blyth will operate as normal to Annitsford, from here will divert non stop via A189 (Spine Road), East Cramlington and A192 before rejoining normal route at the NHS offices (old P&G factory), similar services towards Newcastle and Cramlington will operate at normal to the NHS offices before diverting to Annitsford nonstop. The closure will affect the following journeys; 0955 & 1055 departure from Blyth and 1005 & 1105 departure from Newcastle on service X7 along with the 0930 & 1030 departures from Ashington and 0956 from North Shields on service 57A.
 

Newcastle upon Tyne

+

Between the hours of 1000 and 1230, both St Mary’s Place and Percy Street will be closed during the remembrance parade, as a result all services into Newcastle will be unable to service Haymarket Bus Station. Services arriving from the Gosforth area will serve stops on Claremont Road outside of the Great North Museum, Coast Road services will temporarily terminate at Newcastle Civic Centre and will commence from here back towards Blyth and Tynemouth.
