Plessey Road in Blyth Level Crossing Closure

From 19th April 2024

Plessey Road Level Crossing will be closed from 10pm on Friday 19 April to 10pm on Tuesday 30 April. The crossing will be closed to the public 24 hours a day from the start time of the works.

A diversion route agreed with the council will be in place, however, pedestrian access will be maintained via a newly installed temporary pedestrian crossing which is next to the existing level crossing.

Services X10, X11 and X30 Monday to Saturday from first bus until the 1915 departures from both Newcastle and Blyth will be subject to the following diversion and possible delays throughout the duration of the works as below:

  • X10 & X30 - from Blyth Bus Station via Rotary Way, South Newsham Road Newcastle Road, Laverock Hall Road (bus link) then onto normal route.
  • X11 & X30 - from Blyth Bus Station via Rotary Way, South Newsham Road, Newcastle Road then onto normal route at Laverock Hall Road (bus link).

Services on an evening and Sunday will continue to serve Plessey Road, Newsham Black Diamond, Newsham Farm and Newsham Road, however will be subject to possible delays due to the extra distance required for these services.

Northumberland County Council have funded a shuttle service which will provide links to our services both at Blyth Bus Station and Newcastle Road.

The free shuttle bus will run from Blyth Bus Station to New Delaval/Newcastle Road Co-op via Princess Louise Road, Newsham Road, Druridge Drive loop, Wharton Street, Winship Street, Carr Street, Plessey Road, Rotary Way, South Newsham Road and Newcastle Road.
