New routes and times for Leighton’s buses

From Sunday 1 September

From Sunday 1 September 2024 we’ll be making changes to some of Leighton’s buses.

We’ll be making some small changes to some routes and timetables to help keep buses running on time, as well as boosting connectivity to the surrounding area. Take a look below to see what’s changing:

L3 Leighton Buzzard town centre to Chamberlains Barn
Following a year-long trial to review customer demand, we have seen that customers prefer quicker connections from Hockliffe Road on routes L2/L4/L5. Therefore, L3 buses will no longer serve Meadow Way. This will allow route L3 to run closer to the timetable.

Buses will now run directly from Apex Park, through Clipstone Park to Chamberlains Barn. The timetable will be slightly amended to reflect this.

L4 Leighton Buzzard rail station and town centre to Apex Park
We're making a small change to the L4 route, which will now serve South Street and Brooklands Drive, offering later evening journeys. This replaces route L5, which will operate directly along Hockliffe Road.

There are minor amendments to the timetable to reflect these changes.

L5 Brooklands to Linslade through Leighton Buzzard
To help keep buses running as close to the timetable as possible, we're making a handful of changes along this route.

Buses will no longer serve Rosebery Avenue or Stoke Road, which has bus stops in close proximity on Soulbury Road.

Route L5 will no longer serve South Street or Brooklands Drive. This is being replaced by an extended route L4, offering later evening journeys at the same frequency, with route L5 heading towards Brooklands directly along Hockliffe Road. There are several timetable amendments to reflect these changes.

X4 Aylesbury to Milton Keynes
This route is receiving a radical makeover from September. In response to customer feedback, we're speeding up journeys and better connecting key destinations in Milton Keynes, Leighton Buzzard and Aylesbury.

Leaving Milton Keynes, buses will call at Milton Keynes Hospital, no longer serving Coffee Hall which will help speed up journeys. Following customer feedback, buses will now call at Stadium MK/MK One, IKEA , Rushmere Retail Park, and Bletchley interchange. The route continues through Fenny Stratford, close to the rail station, running directly to Heath and Reach.

In Leighton Buzzard, buses will leave the High Street and will travel along Billington Road to Roman Gate, before heading to Aylesbury, doubling the number of buses per hour in this area of the town.

In Aylesbury, buses will now serve the Kingsbrook housing development, entering the town along Tring Road. We'll continue to offer journeys focused around the school days of Aylesbury Grammar Schools, and Sir Henry Floyd/Aylesbury College. Bierton continues to be served by other bus operators.

F70/F77 Milton Keynes to Luton Airport
