Luton Busway Investment
Arriva is thrilled to announce the arrival of 14 brand new buses to exclusively run on the Luton Busway A & Z routes, serving Luton, Dunstable and Luton Airport.
The first of these vehicles will be arriving from the end of November. The Luton Busway opened in September 2013 and is now recognised as an exemplar scheme with other schemes in the UK following on behind.
Therefore, it is extremely exciting to announce a total investment of over £2.5million into new vehicles which further outlines Arriva’s commitment to the local area.
Simon Finnie (South Area Managing Director) “We are delighted to be able to commit such a strong level of investment into the local area, we recognise public transport as one of the key ways to help protect our environment for the future and save our planet! That is why we are proud to be introducing 14 Ultra low emission vehicles into our fleet.
Ian Dalgarno, Central Bedfordshire Executive Member for Community Services said: “We’re very pleased that Arriva are investing in new ultra-low emission vehicles for services in the Dunstable and Houghton Regis areas. The new vehicles will help to deliver more sustainable transport services for local residents, as well as helping to improve air quality.”
Councillor Robert Roche, Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Development and Highways at Luton Council said: “we welcome Arriva’s investment to help create a greener transport network for Luton, a crucial step in meeting our town’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2040. The ultra-low emission vehicles that will soon be transiting our Luton to Dunstable busway are a significant step towards achieving that, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring cleaner air”.
Remember to keep an eye out for the new vehicles on the road.
