Great North 10K – Newcastle Disruption

Sunday 2nd July 2023

On Sunday 2 July 2023, the Great North 10K event will be taking place in Newcastle City Centre. Due to the route of the course through the City Centre, several road closures will be in place. As a result of these, they will be temporary changes to the routes and terminal points of services in Newcastle.

The road closures effect the following: Blackett Street, New Bridge Street West, John Dobson Street, St Marys Place, Barras Bridge, Sandyford Road, St.Thomas' Street, North West Radial Road, Claremont Road, Great North Road, Central Motorway. All of which would allow us to access Haymarket Bus Station.

These various road closures will significantly affect the routes of buses. Therefore, on Sunday 2 July 2023, between approximately 0815 and 1315, buses will divert as follows:

Services 43, 44 and 45 will be required to use a temporary terminus at Newcastle Civic Centre outside of the University Library. These services will operate as normal to Blue House Roundabout, then operate non stop to Newcastle Civic Centre.

Services 51, 52, 306 and 308 will be required to terminate at the Civic Centre University Library.

Services 55, X7 and X8 will be required to terminate at the Civic Centre University Library, these will operate as normal to Matthew Bank/llford Road then run non stop to the Civic Centre University Library.

Services X9, X10, X11, X14, X15, X18, X21 and X22 will terminate at Blue House Roundabout during the road closures. Passengers are advised to swap buses at Regent Centre onto the 43, 44 and 45 services to reach the City Centre.
