GN 10K Race - Newcastle disruptions

on Sunday 7th July

On Sunday 7 July 2024, the Great North 10K event will be taking place in Newcastle City Centre.

Due to the route of the course through the City Centre, several road closures will be in place. As a result of these, they will be temporary changes to the routes and terminal points of services in Newcastle.
The road closures effect the following: Blackett Street, New Bridge Street West, John Dobson Street, St Marys Place, Barras Bridge, Sandyford Road, St.Thomas’ Street, North West Radial Road, Claremont Road, Great North Road, Central Motorway. All of which would allow us to access Haymarket Bus Station.

These various road closures will significantly affect the routes of buses. Therefore, on Sunday 2 July 2023, between approximately 0815 and 1315, buses will divert as follows:

Services 43, 44 and 45 from Blue House Roundabout will operate non-stop to a temporary terminus at Civic Centre University Library, as a result stops along the Town Moor, at Barras Bridge and Newcastle Haymarket will not be served during this time.

Services 306 and 308 will be required to terminate at the Civic Centre University Library, as a result will not serve stops at St Marys Place or Newcastle Haymarket

Services X7 and X8 will be required to terminate at the Civic Centre University Library, these will operate as normal to South Gosforth Roundabout then run non stop to the Civic Centre University Library.

Services X9, X10, X11, X14, X15, X18, X21 and X22 from Gosforth High Street will operate non-stop to a temporary terminus at Civic Centre University Library, as a result stops at Barras Bridge and Newcastle Haymarket will not be served during this time.

All departures from Newcastle Haymarket before 0810 and after 1310 will operate as normal.
