Changes to fares in Midlands, Bedfordshire, South East

From 1 January 2025 there will be price changes to some of our fares.

The price of a single bus fare will change but with the Government capped fare you’ll still be able to get around for no more than £3 per journey, plus there will be many single fares which will cost less than this. Make sure you tell your driver where you're travelling as you board to get the best value ticket for you. 

We're also withdrawing return tickets and some multi-journey tickets including the 3 and 12 day bundles and 10 trip tickets. For more details see below.

How much will I pay for a single ticket?

Single bus fares are changing on 1 January 2025 but with the Government capped fare you’ll still be able to get around for no more than £3 per journey if you’re travelling in England. Simply tell your driver where you're travelling as you board to get the best value ticket for you.

 

Where can I use the capped fare?

The £3 capped fare is only available in England outside of London. On cross border services into Wales you can travel for no more than £3 if you’re catching the bus from England. However, normal fare stages will apply once the service enters Wales.

Which routes are not included in the capped fare?

The £3 capped fare is only available in England outside of London. School, park and ride and and some other services including Greenline 757 and 755 are not included in the capped fare scheme. For the full list of exclusions visit https://www.arrivabus.co.uk/capfareex25 

How can I purchase a capped fare?

To get the best value ticket we recommend you buy your single ticket when you board and tell your driver where you're travelling as you may be able to travel with us for less than £3. You can pay with cash or your contactless card or device on board any of our buses.

If you are in Leicestershire you can also pay using Tap On Tap Off which automatically caps at the best value single, day, or week fare.

Can I still purchase a capped single ticket on the app?

How long are tickets purchased on the app valid for?

Mobile tickets are only valid for 1 hour once activated. Please activate your ticket as close to your journey as possible.

When does the capped bus fare end?

The £3 capped bus fare will end on 31 December 2025.

Are multi-journey ticket prices changing?

3 and 12 day bundles and the 10 trip tickets will be withdrawn from 1 January 2025.

No, from 1 January 2025 return tickets will be withdrawn

What else do I need to know?

Within Medway, the Twilight fare will be increasing to £2.50.
