Closure of Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, from 23rd July 2019

Tonbridge Road will be closed for gas mains work for up to six weeks. Services 3, 6 and 7 buses will be diverted.
Tonbridge Road in Maidstone will be closed while gas mains work takes place in two phases between its junctions with Stanford Drive and Oakwood Road.
This work will start on 23rd July and is expected to last for up to six weeks.
As a result buses will be diverted as follows:
From Maidstone Hospital to Town Centre
Normal route to Tonbridge Road and then via Fant Lane, Hackney Road, Upper Fant Road, St. Michael’s Road, Tonbridge Road and normal route into the town. Buses will pick up and set down at all bus stops on the diversion.
From Maidstone Bus Station to Maidstone Hospital
Normal route to Tonbridge Road (St. Michael’s Church) and then via St. Michael’s Road, Upper Fant Road, Hackney Road, Fant Lane, Tonbridge Road and normal route to the hospital. Buses will pick up and set down at all bus stops on the diversion.
Services 6 and 7
From Tunbridge Wells to Maidstone
Normal route to Tonbridge Road (St. Andrew’s Church) then via Queen’s Road, London Road, Rocky Hill and normal route to the bus station. Buses will run non-stop on the diversion route.
From Maidstone to Tunbridge Wells
Normal route to Maidstone West Station, then via Terrace Road, London Road, Queen’s Road to Tonbridge Road and then normal route from St. Andrew’s Church to Tunbridge Wells. Buses will run non-stop on the diversion route.
The diversionary routes are expected to be very busy with other traffic that would normally use Tonbridge Road so buses may be subject to delays. Please allow extra time for your journey if travelling to attend appointments or make connections.
The bus stops between the Cherry Tree and The Poplars will not be served while these diversions are in place.
