The Sherwood Shuttle

The Sherwood Shuttle

Service 277 - the Sherwood shuttle - shuttles between Sherwood and the town centre via Ferndale every 15 minutes for the main part of the day on Mondays to Saturdays, as shown on the timetable.

Two buses an hour extend to Knights Park and the Tunbridge Wells Hospital, serving the Odeon cinema and passing Great Lodge Retail Park on the way. The 277 also runs every two hours on Sundays, under contract to Kent County Council, from Sainsbury's through to Sherwood and then to and from North Farm, Knights Park, Tunbridge Wells Hospital and Tonbridge.

In Tunbridge Wells town centre, buses stop in Monson Road and at the Rail Station, with alternate buses on Mondays to Saturdays continuing to and from the Pantiles and Sainsbury’s, giving handy access to all the main shopping areas and the historic part of town. At Sherwood, buses run via Friars Way, Birken Road, Liptraps Lane and then Greggs Wood Road, Sherwood Road, Sandhurst Road, Ferndale, St. James’ Church, Lansdowne Road and Calverley Road into the town centre.

The Sherwood Shuttle is mainly provided by three environmentally-friendly, easy-access buses that were bought especially for the service. These buses are of a very distinctive design and are fully-accessible to make travelling much easier for parents with buggies, shoppers with trolleys or heavy bags of shopping and for anyone else who might have had difficulty using buses with steps at the entrance.

The bus engines meet the stringent rules on exhaust emissions to help make Tunbridge Wells a cleaner and greener place.

Like all Arriva buses purchased over the past few years, the Sherwood shuttle buses are fitted with a state-of-the-art digital CCTV system that records continuously via a series of cameras fitted both inside and out to give an added feeling of safety and security to our staff and customers.
