More frequent bus services for Kent Thameside
We're making changes to some of our bus routes and times in the Kent Thameside area from Sunday 9th August, with some big improvements across the area.
There will be more frequent buses for some parts of Kent Thameside, high-quality Sapphire buses for Riverview Park, brand-new buses for Fastrack services and new links for several areas.
Some services will be given new numbers and some routes will be linked differently.
To find out more about the changes click the tabs below.
The 'general overview' tab gives you a summary of the main changes and the service-by-service tab lists all our services in the Kent Thameside area, with full details of what is happening to your local bus route.
The other tabs summarise the changes specifically for those areas affected by the changes.
New timetable leaflets for the services that are altering will be available well in advance of the start date and the new times will be available online by mid-July.
Sapphire services 480 and 490 will run to an increased frequency and the service will run twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
The main daytime service through Greenhithe, Northfleet, Gravesend and Denton to Valley Drive will run every seven or eight minutes, with alternate buses serving either Bluewater or Dartford every fifteen minutes on each route.
At Valley Drive the service will be altered so that alternate buses will run to Mackenzie Way as at present but every fifteen minutes, or via St. Hilda’s Way to Riverview Park.
For most of the day, Service 480 will run from Dartford to Mackenzie Way and the 490 will run from Bluewater to Riverview Park.
Due to the popularity of the existing late night and early morning Sapphire buses, we will be running extra journeys every two hours in the middle of the night between Valley Drive, Gravesend, Bluewater and Dartford so that the service will run twenty-four hours a day, every day.
Following the successful trial use of two double-deck buses on the Sapphire services we will be adding another four such vehicles to the Sapphire fleet from 9th August, all to full Sapphire specification with free on-board Wi-Fi, next-stop audio-visual display screens, eco-leather seating and three-pin and USB power points by each seat.
