More frequent bus services for Kent Thameside

We're making changes to some of our bus routes and times in the Kent Thameside area from Sunday 9th August, with some big improvements across the area.

There will be more frequent buses for some parts of Kent Thameside, high-quality Sapphire buses for Riverview Park, brand-new buses for Fastrack services and new links for several areas.

Some services will be given new numbers and some routes will be linked differently.

To find out more about the changes click the tabs below.

The 'general overview' tab gives you a summary of the main changes and the service-by-service tab lists all our services in the Kent Thameside area, with full details of what is happening to your local bus route.

The other tabs summarise the changes specifically for those areas affected by the changes.

New timetable leaflets for the services that are altering will be available well in advance of the start date and the new times will be available online by mid-July.

The main changes affecting Dartford are that the Sapphire buses will be running more frequently and Fastrack services will be run by brand-new buses.

Sapphire 480 will run every fifteen minutes during the main part of the day, instead of every twenty, and will be re-routed at the Valley Drive end of the route to serve Riverview Park.

These buses will turn off Valley Drive into St. Hilda's Way and will then serve Riverview Park.

Due to the popularity of the early morning and late night Service 480/490 buses, extra buses in the middle of the night will mean that the service will be running twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, with a two-hourly frequency during the middle of the night between Dartford, Bluewater, Gravesend and Valley Drive.

The service between Dartford and Burnham Road will be revised to run every thirty minutes.

Following the successful trial of two double-deck buses on the Sapphire services, another four double-decks are being added to the Sapphire fleet to cater for increased demand.

You can view the new Sapphire 480/490 map here.

Fastrack services will be run by twenty-one brand-new high-specification single-deck buses that feature free on-board Wi-Fi, next-stop audio-visual displays, eco-leather seats and three-pin and USB power points next to each seat. They also incorporate the latest 'micro hybrid' technology to keep carbon emissions to a minimal level to help improve air quality in Kent Thameside.

The times of Fastrack B will be revised slightly to run every nine minutes at peak periods.
