Medway student travel

Medway Student Header

Arriva’s network of services in and around Medway provides many links and opportunities for travel that are ideal for students attending the local universities and colleges.

In conjunction with the Universities at Medway, Arriva provides special reduced-price student and staff tickets that give great savings and that can be purchased online.

There are also discounted ticket prices online for students attending the University for the Creative Arts in Chatham.

The online tickets can be purchased on mobile phones by using the Arriva Bus App and can be delivered to your phone rather than as a paper ticket.

Students travelling to the Medway Campus of MidKent College can also take advantage of reduced-price bus travel, these tickets only being available from the college.

As well as being the smart way to buy tickets, the Arriva Bus App for smartphones and tablets gives information about our services, including timetables, a journey planner and a real-time feature where you can see exactly when your bus will reach the stop.

Download it FREE from your App Store.

Arriva runs a frequent service to within a five-minute walk of the MidKent College Medway campus, giving handy links from other parts of the Medway Towns and from Maidstone and also a half-hourly service that stops right outside the campus. There are also buses to the campus from Maidstone, Grain and Hoo.

Buses stop at the King Charles Hotel at Brompton, with Services 101 and 182 giving eleven buses an hour to and from Chatham and Gillingham town centres during the main part of the day on Mondays to Saturdays.

The 101 Sapphire service also gives a twelve-minute service to Maidstone and there are connections onto both services at Chatham Waterfront Bus Station from other parts of Medway and from Gravesend.

In addition, the campus is served directly by Service 116. This runs between Chatham, the Universities at Medway campus, MidKent College, Gillingham, Rainham, Parkwood and Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre.

Buses run every 30 minutes for the main part of the day on Mondays to Saturdays.

One of the special features fitted to the Service 116 buses is free on-board Wi-Fi that allows you to use smart phones, laptops, tablets, iPads and other devices while you’re travelling.

So, take advantage of your time on the move and chat with friends, browse the internet, catch up on your emails or do a spot of online shopping!

Our Sapphire 101 buses also have free Wi-Fi on board, as well as three-pin and USB power points to charge your mobile phone or other device.

If you travel from other parts of Medway or beyond, you can change onto the 116 at Chatham Waterfront Bus Station.

There are also direct buses to the college on Mondays to Friday mornings from Maidstone, Davis Estate, Grain, the Hoo Peninsula, Strood and Rochester. In the afternoons some Sapphire 101 buses run via the college campus on their way to Maidstone.
