Revised fares in Kent and East Sussex from 24th May 2015
We will be revising some of our prices on services in Kent and East Sussex from 24th May, including the introduction of simpler zones for our day, weekly and four-weekly tickets in some areas, the extension of some zones to bring our great-value Saver Tickets to even more of our customers and the reduction, substantial in some cases, of a number of ticket prices.
The South East Day, Weekly and 4-weekly tickets that are valid on all our services in Kent and East Sussex will be frozen, as will the price of the Explorer Ticket that allows travel on Arriva buses and those of Stagecoach in East Kent.
A number of other prices will be frozen but some single and return fares will increase slightly.
The Kids Go Cheap single fare will rise to 70p per single journey but the return ticket will be frozen at £1.
The £1 single fare for holders of Kent County Council Young Person’s Travel Passes travelling outside the period of free travel is also frozen.
You can see a full list of our day, weekly and 4-weekly ticket prices here.
The Thameside Day, Weekly and 4-weekly ticket prices will be frozen, as will the Gravesend Weekly ticket.
The prices of Gravesend Day, Gravesend 4-weekly and the Dartford area tickets will be increased.
Maidstone and Malling
The prices of the Maidstone Plus Day, Weekly and 4-weekly tickets will be frozen, giving even better value for money, but the zone will be extended beyond its current boundary at Stile Bridge to include Staplehurst.
The prices of the day, weekly and 4-weekly tickets for the main Maidstone area will be increased.
The prices of Medway Weekly and 4-weekly tickets will be reduced:
- Medway Weekly down by £4 to £20
- Medway 4-weekly down by £3 to £77.
The Medway Day Ticket will be frozen at £6.
The range of Medway Inner and the One-hour ticket will increase slightly in price.
We are removing the inner Sevenoaks zone so that there will just be one simple zone covering the whole of Service 452 and also the 402 between Halstead and Hildenborough and the 306/308 out as far as Borough Green.
The prices for the single zone will be less than the previous Sevenoaks zone, except that the day ticket will be the same price as previously applied to the central zone, giving a big saving across the wider area.
The Sevenoaks Day ticket will cost just £4, the weekly ticket £15 and the 4-weekly ticket will be £50, a reduction of £22.
The great-value Service 452 weekly ticket that gives unlimited travel between Dunton Green, Chipstead, Riverhead and Sevenoaks will be increased to £12, still offering excellent value, especially for commuters for whom it is much cheaper than parking the car at the station.
The existing Sheerness, Sittingbourne and Swale tickets will be replaced by one zone that is extended beyond the present Swale ticket boundary on the Isle of Sheppey to include Eastchurch and Leysdown.
There will be a Swale Day ticket at £4.50, a weekly ticket at £16 and a 4-weekly ticket costing £52. These allow travel on all Arriva buses on the Isle of Sheppey and on the mainland in the Sittingbourne area and across to Faversham and Oare.
These great-value prices represent a reduction in price for the tickets that previously covered the whole Swale area, as well as having the added benefit that they are now available across the whole of the Isle of Sheppey. The 4-weelly ticket is £20 less than the previous Swale four-weekly ticket price.
Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough
At present separate zones cover the Tonbridge area, the Tunbridge Wells area and the wider Tunbridge Wells Extra zone that incorporates both zones but extends to Crowborough.
The existing Tunbridge Wells Extra zone will become the single zone for the whole area, with the prices the same as those previously applied in just the Tunbridge Wells zone.
This means even better value for money for the whole area and the 4-weekly ticket is down from £72 to £57.
