Arriva is revising its service between Luton, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes from 2nd November to give quicker journey times for some buses between Luton and Leighton Buzzard and a more frequent service through to Milton Keynes.
The existing Service 70 will continue to run hourly along its existing route from Luton via Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard to Central Milton Keynes but will be extended to MK Rail Station.
In addition, new Service F70 will run hourly but will take a quicker route, benefiting from using the Luton and Dunstable Busway to avoid traffic congestion at the southern end of the route and cutting twenty minutes off the journey times to Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes.
Not only will this make the bus journey a more attractive alternative to taking the car but buses on the F70 will be fitted with free on-board Wi-Fi.
North of Leighton Buzzard the F70 will take the quick route to Milton Keynes, running via Soulbury Road, the A5 and Stadium MK before terminating at The Point.
Between them, these buses will increase the service between Lurton and Milton Keynes to two buses an hour, will retain two buses an hour at Leighton Buzzard and will combine with the existing Service 150 between Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes to give three buses an hour over that section of the route.
Arriva’s Regional Publicity Manager, Richard Lewis, said “We are pleased to enhance our services between Luton, Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes by increasing the frequency to Milton Keynes and taking advantage of the Busway to give a much quicker journey into and out of Luton on the new F70 journeys.
“Since the Busway opened, the advantages of having a clear run, free of traffic delays, have been welcomed by our customers travelling between Luton and Dunstable and it is good news that we are able to extend its benefits to even more people.
“The time saving that we can offer on the new F70 service is considerable during the main part of the day and will be even greater at peak times when Dunstable Road suffers heavy congestion.
“We are also extending Wi-Fi to this service, giving our customers the ability to make the most of their travelling time by checking emails, surfing the internet, chatting with friends or doing some online shopping while on the move, and all for free!
”We hope that more people will consider using the bus when travelling between Luton and Milton Keynes and experience the real benefit that the Busway can offer by taking buses away from roads congested by other traffic.”
