Reasons to Visit Southend-on-Sea

Southend on Sea is one of the UK’s leading beach break destinations for anyone wanting fresh air and fun.

Southend offers a picturesque beach to lounge on, amusement arcades and idyllic sunset boat trips - meaning there are plenty of reasons to take a trip to this iconic seaside town.

Southend Pier

The first of many reasons to visit Southend is to see the iconic Southend Pier! It’s the longest pleasure pier in the world, measuring 1.3 miles long. However, if you don’t fancy walking the length of the pier you can take a ride on the railway which runs every half an hour and will let you enjoy the views and have you from the shore to the end of the pier in just 10 minutes.

When you reach the head of the pier, you’ll no doubt be in need of some refreshments.
Luckily, there’s everything from fish and chips to ice cream and cake, giving you the perfect excuse to sit down and enjoy the sea views. Or if you’re looking for a spot of fun, the pier also has its own crazy golf course so you can enjoy a round of golf 1.33 miles from shore!

Opening and closing times are subject to change and are weather dependent, so check the official website for up-to-date information:

Adventure Island

Another top attraction to explore whilst in Southend is Adventure Island.
Adventure Island is the UK’s number 1 free admission theme park. It’s full of 36 different rides for families of all ages to enjoy, from a rollercoaster for the thrill-seekers to a carousel for those who enjoy going at a slower pace.

Whilst you don’t need to pay to enter the park, you will need to pay to go on the rides and attractions. Find out more of the official website:
