Museums have the power to transform the world around us! They are places to learn about our past and open our minds to new ideas.
To celebrate International Museum Day, we’ve put together a few of our favourite museums you can get to by bus.
Science and Industry Museum Manchester
Manchester, the world's first industrial city, is home to the Science and Industry Museum. It's a museum filled with incredible artefacts and innovative ideas.
In the Revolution Gallery, you can learn about Manchester's rich history of inventions and discoveries; in the Textiles Gallery, learn about the city's connection to the cotton industry; and in Experiment, a family-friendly interactive gallery, you see science come to life.

Coventry Transport Museum
The Coventry Transport Museum showcases a collection of cars, motorcycles and push bikes collected from Coventry’s history as the car manufacturing capital of the world. The museum also tells the fascinating story of Coventry and its people through the rise and fall of its biggest industry.
With exhibits ranging from Queen Mary’s Daimler to some of the earliest bicycles, this is a museum that will even appeal to non-car fans!

Tate Liverpool
The Grade I-listed Albert Dock houses the Tate Liverpool art gallery and museum. It contains a collection of British art from 1500 to the present day, as well as worldwide modern and contemporary art. Tate Liverpool also hosts a series of temporary exhibitions in addition to the permanent displays.

York Castle Museum

The Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill
The Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill is a truly unique museum like no other. It opened its doors in 2021 and showcases Derby’s 300-year history of innovation and making. Part of the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Museum has been shaped and designed by hundreds of local volunteers. With a range of different exhibitions, workshops, a cafe and a shop there is something for everyone.
