Guide to Salcey Forest

Visit Salcey Forest on the 33 Service

Salcey Forest is an ancient woodland with a diverse wildlife population and some of Northamptonshire’s oldest trees. The forest is home to veteran oaks, which are rare and amazing wildlife habitats, with some of the old oaks dating back more than 600 years.

The forest has a variety of walking trails, a family cycling trail, a variety of children's activities, and a café on-site; so there's something for everyone whether you're catching up with friends or taking the family for a fun-filled day out.

Salcey Forest offers a variety of exciting activities, including the Super Worm trail for children. The trail will help you discover more about a range of small but mighty creatures and learn about the everyday heroic feats of forest minibeasts. The self-guided trail has brightly illustrated panels as well as a trail pack* full of fun activities to keep the whole family entertained as you wander around the forest.

The family cycle trail is a great way to explore Salcey Forest. This trail is ideal for family cycling and spending quality time together in the great outdoors! The path is relatively flat, wide, and smooth, making it a safe and relaxing way to gain confidence and improve cycling skills.

There is also the Grounds Cycle Centre, which offers bike rental, sales, repairs, and maintenance.

After a day of exploring the trails, you can finish your visit at the onsite Grounds Cafe. With indoor and outdoor seating you can treat yourself to one of the delicious homemade meals or cakes.
