Travelling around Rickmansworth
The small town of Rickmansworth offers the best of several different worlds. Firstly, it is located within the M25, just 20 miles north-west of London; secondly, it is surrounded by Hertfordshire woodland and countryside, so is not as crowded and busy as the capital itself.
Finally, it sits at the meeting point of three rivers – the Gade, the Chess and the Colne – and the Grand Union Canal. This watery setting provides a sense of calm and an abundance of wildlife. This area has been transformed into a nature reserve offering you the chance to fish, cycle, dabble in watersports or simply enjoy a picnic.
Good road and rail links to London help to explain its popularity with commuters, and the local Arriva bus service covers Rickmansworth itself, as well as journeys further afield to the likes of Hemel Hempstead, Watford and London Heathrow Airport.
