Travelling around Harlow
Harlow, a town located in the west of Essex, England, is an intriguing mix of the old and the new. Located on the border with Hertfordshire, close to the River Stort, the bulk of Harlow is made up of a New Town constructed in 1947. It was planned and built to be sympathetic to the surrounding countryside, which is underlined by the presence of green open spaces in the heart of the town.
Earlier eras are represented by the presence of Old Harlow, a suburb which resembles a small village, complete with numerous examples of Victorian architecture.
The presence of the M11 motorway to the east of Harlow has helped to turn it into a transport hub with quick links to the M25 and London Stanstead Airport. Arriva buses run throughout Harlow and use it as a base to serve places, such as Chelmsford, Bishop’s Stortford and Welwyn Garden City.
