New services in Runcorn and Widnes

New bus Arriva services will be available in Runcorn and Widnes from Monday 27th January.

However to ensure as little disruption to customers as possible Arriva will aim to run the majority of these new routes from Saturday 25th January.

Arriva will be introducing these services following the recent announcement by Halton Transport to cease trading.  For the next two weeks all valid Halton tickets will be accepted on all Arriva services in Halton and throughout the wider Merseyside area.

Increasing Arriva’s network will provide:

  • Up to 16 buses per hour between Runcorn and Widnes
  • Up to 10 buses per hour between Runcorn and Murdishaw
  • Up to 6 buses per hour from Runcorn and Widnes to Hough Green
  • Up to 4 buses per hour connecting Runcorn and Widnes to Halebank

The extension of the Arriva network allows customers access to all of Arriva’s great value saver tickets across the North West. Arriva’s variety of ticket options mean that it’s never been better value to travel around Halton and right across the North West.

For local journeys within Runcorn and Widnes our Halton Zone ticket is perfect for you, or for longer journeys the Merseyside Plus ticket will cover your needs in Halton and take you across the whole of Merseyside and into Warrington.

Commuters can enjoy the convenience and save more with our four-weekly ticket, and for families, enjoying outings have never been easier with our great value family ticket. All our buses accept contactless payment, making your journey even smoother.

Arriva would like to welcome all Halton Drivers and Engineers to apply for a position within Arriva.  To make this as easy as possible Arriva will be holding another recruitment Open Day at its Runcorn depot in Beechwood, on Saturday 25th January from 9.00 until 16.00 (no booking needed) following the previously successful day we have had on 22nd and 24th January.

Anyone wishing to attend the Open Day must bring their CPC Card*, PCV Driving Licence* (if applicable) and Proof of right to work in UK (UK Passport or Birth Certificate).  We will guarantee any Halton employee who attends our Open Day the opportunity for an assessment/interview.
