Yorkshire's Service 42 is changing from 25th April
We’re making some changes to service 42 from 25th April.
Following a review of the use of the service, and responding to the feedback we’ve received from customers and the local communities we serve, some changes are being introduced.
Service 42 is being split into two routes:
- New Service 8 will operate from Selby to Drax. There will be 4 trips Monday to Saturday daytime.
- New Service 42 will operate from Selby to York via Cawood. This route will operate every two hours Monday to Saturday daytime, with additional trips during Monday to Friday peak times.
For Selby College students, the first 42 arrival from York into Selby Bus Station will turn into service 8, and students can stay on the bus to travel to Selby College. In the afternoon, students can board service 8 at Selby College which will turn into service 42 when it reaches Selby Bus Station. Through fares will be available on these journeys.
Services 8 and 42 are able to run thanks to financial support from North Yorkshire County Council. We’ve been working closely with them, as part of a tendering process, to design the new timetable that meets the needs of residents accessing leisure, education and employment opportunities.
We’re also delighted to be bringing back the Saturday evening journeys between York and Selby.
Before the pandemic, these journeys were run on behalf of, and with financial support from, the Parish Transport Initiative, set up by local councillor John Cattanach. We’d like to thank Cllr Cattanach, and the various local councils and businesses along the route who contributed towards making the Saturday evening service so successful. These trips were very popular, and we’re pleased to be able to bring them back as a trial from 25th April and throughout the summer to test future demand.
