What is PLUSBUS?
It's a discount price bus pass for unlimited bus travel around the whole urban area of town, at the start or end of your rail journey. You buy PLUSBUS with your train ticket and pay for your complete journey by train and bus in one easy purchase. PLUSBUS is available to 290 towns and cities across Britain.
How does PLUSBUS work?
Ask for PLUSBUS when buying your train ticket at the station or by phone. PLUSBUS gives you unlimited bus travel around the whole town on all participating bus operators' services. Your bus travel can be at the start, the end, or both parts of your train journey. For each town there is one zone that covers the whole urban area. With your PLUSBUS ticket you can travel as much as you like on all participating buses within the zone.
PLUSBUS can be added to most types of walk up and Advance train tickets:
- Day Return
- Period Return
- Season ticket (for set periods to match your train season tickets):
- 7 days
- 1 month
- 3 months
- 1 year
How much does PLUSBUS cost?

Railcard holders (like students) get 33% off PLUSBUS day ticket prices. Children under 16 get 50% off.
Where do I buy PLUSBUS?
Simply ask for PLUSBUS when buying your train ticket at the station or by phone. It can save you money and is more convenient than buying separate tickets. What's more you can pay with cash, credit or debit card. You can buy PLUSBUS at:
- train station ticket offices
- self-service ticket machines (at selected stations only)
- by phone with some Train Company telesales teams
How do I buy PLUSBUS online?
You will be offered PLUSBUS automatically by the rail ticket website (after you've selected your train tickets) in stage 3 'Choose seats & travel options'. PLUSBUS tickets can't be bought online on their own (they have to be bought with a train ticket).
If you want bus travel to start your journey then you must choose to have your tickets posted to you (allow up to 5 days for delivery) or select a guaranteed next day delivery (a charge may apply). You must show the actual PLUSBUS ticket to the bus driver (the booking confirmation will not be acceptable).
