Travelling around Leicester
A city that’s filled to the brim with exciting things to do, Leicester is a true melting pot of culture, history and modern amenities. Sitting in the East Midlands, the city lies on the River Soar, close to the National Forest. It has two universities and is the 13th most populous in the UK. No wonder there’s always something to do.
This hive of activity has led to excellent public transport links. Arriva bus services operate frequently within the city. There are also services into the surrounding area with links to places like Market Harborough, Rugby, Lutterworth, Hinckley, Coalville, Loughborough and Melton Mowbray.
Visitors will be spoilt for things to do here. You can see everything from Egyptian artefacts and Victorian art galleries to Picasso ceramics at the city’s original museum, the New Walk Museum and Art Gallery. There’s also an Attenborough collection and even a metre-long dinosaur.
The National Space Centre also provides a great day out, while De Montfort Hall and the Y Theatre always have a full calendar. Why not pop in and see what’s happening? The city hosts a number of annual festivals, such as the Handmade Festival and Riverside Festival, which are both filled with amazing live music.
Meanwhile, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping, eating and drinking. As this is a hugely popular student city, you’ll be well catered for on all fronts. So, whether you’re looking for an independent place or a high-street chain, you’re sure to find it here.
