Sandal Castle

Sandal Castle stands in a commading position overlooking the River Calder, and offers an interesting look at the area's rich history in the Wars of the Roses and the English Civil War. The castle is a short trip from Wakefield on Arriva 110 and 194/5/6, so you can really make the most of your multi-journey bus tickets!

Seckar Woods Local Natural Reserve

Seckar Woods are beautiful, with the landscape changing dramatically over the seasons from purple heather in late summer to deep green foliage in the winter. The woodland used to be privately owned but it is now open for everyone to enjoy.
