Arriva North East passengers are 'The Best of the Best'

Local bus company Arriva North East have paid tribute to a pair of local heroes by naming their bus service 15 ‘the director’s cut’ in commemoration of local film directors and Grangefield School alumni, Tony and Ridley Scott.

To celebrate the launch of ‘the director’s cut’ Arriva North East are gave their passengers the chance to win tickets to a free screening of Tony Scott’s 80s classic ‘Top Gun’ at Cineworld, Middlesbrough on Saturday 16 June 2012.

We had over 300 entries in total and had many happy film fans turned up on the day to claim their free tickets, popcorn and drinks.

Nick Knox, area managing director for Arriva North East said, “We’ve recently taken delivery of 11 new buses which will all operate on service 15 which runs from Roseworth to Thornaby. It’s great to be able to celebrate such a prestigious local connection by naming the service after the Scott brothers. In the spirit of the film Top Gun, we certainly think our new fleet is the ‘best of the best’ and we really hope our passengers will enjoy travelling on the service”

The single deck buses represent an investment worth more than £1.5million and benefit passengers travelling in Roseworth, Stockton and Thornaby on the number 15 service. The vehicles have low floors to enable easy access for customers with buggies and are fitted with the latest Euro 5 engines, making them more economical and environmentally-friendly.
