Local bus company Arriva North East has announced there will be improvements to its 35/35a service with an enhanced 15 minute frequency between Morpeth, Pegswood, Ashington and North Seaton.
Due to the increased popularity of the service, from 27 October, residents will be able to take advantage of a 15 minute service Monday – Saturday daytime, which is an improvement from the current 20 minute frequency.
Nick Knox, area managing director for Arriva North East, said: “Service 35 and 35a services have proved very popular, this has allowed us to make changes will see us provide customers with a faster and more reliable service. These changes have been implemented with detailed consultation with local authorities; working in partnership allows us to make sure that the local communities we serve have a strong, sustainable network of bus services.”
Local councillor, Cllr Mavis Cholerton said of the improvements; “I am delighted on behalf of local residents, particularly those living on or around Woodhorn Road who will now benefit from an increased 30 minutes frequency during the day. We are confident that the service will be well used and encourage residents who do not use the bus to give it a go.”
