Easyrider tickets 

Easyriders are go-as-you-please bus tickets. They are valid for travel on any Arriva or Stagecoach bus in the zones shown on the map: plus Stokesley, Great Ayton, Hutton Rudby and Hinderwell. They can also be used on any council-subsidised Borough or Hartlepool bus.
If you want to travel outside of the Easyrider Boundary, simply show your Easyrider ticket when you board and pay the difference to travel from the boundary to your destination. 

Easyrider tickets can be bought in any Arriva or Stagecoach Travel Shop in the Teesside & East Cleveland area or onboard any Arriva or Stagecoach bus in the same area.

Explorer tickets 

Explorer Tickets are the only regionwide integrated public transport ticket. From the Scottish Borders throughout Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire the Explorer North East ticket gives you the freedom to plan your days out.

Valid on most bus services throughout the region including Arriva North East, Go North East and Stagecoach North East as well as the Tyne and Wear Metro and Shields Ferry. Tickets are available from bus drivers. Valid for travel after 9am Monday to Friday and all day weekends and public holidays.

Terms of travel

  • Saver tickets can be used on any Arriva North East buses within the given zones except services X61 and 737. 
  • Children under 5 travel free with Arriva. Child fares conditions vary from area to area as follows:
    • Cleveland
      Children under 5 years of age are carried free, providing they do not occupy a seat and are accompanied by a fare-paying passenger or a pass holder. Up to three children under 5 years of age may travel free with any passenger. Any more than three children under 5 years should be charged half the adult fare. There is no limit to the number of under-5s that may accompany an adult fare paying passenger or pass holder on Boroughbus services. Children aged 5 and under 16 are charged half the adult fare for journeys wholly within the Cleveland area. Half fares on cross-boundary journeys, i.e. to points beyond the Cleveland boundary, are available only to children aged 5 and under 14.
    • County Durham
      Children under 5 years of age are carried free, providing they do not occupy a seat and are accompanied by a fare-paying passenger or a pass holder. Up to three children under 5 years of age may travel free with any passenger. Any more than three children under 5 years should be charged half the adult fare. Children aged 5 and under 14 are charged half the adult fare or any journey starting or finishing in County Durham.
    • County Durham Child 14-16 Passes (IIC Card)
      Holders of these passes may travel at half fare after 1700 hours on schooldays and all day on Saturday, Sunday or during school holidays. It is valid on any local bus service for journeys starting or finishing in County Durham.
    • Darlington Borough
      Within the Darlington Borough boundary children aged 5 and under 16 are charged half the adult fare. Please note that for any through-journey crossing the boundary from Darlington into Durham, Cleveland, Tyne & Wear or North Yorkshire the age limit is aged 5 to under 14.
    • North Yorkshire
      Children under 5 years of age are carried free, providing they do not occupy a seat and are accompanied by a fare-paying passenger or a pass holder. Up to two children under 5 years of age may travel free with any passenger. Any more than two children under 5 years should be charged half the adult fare. Children aged 5 and under 14 are charged half the adult fare for any journey starting or finishing in North Yorkshire. The age limit for tendered services is 5 and under 16.
    • Tyne & Wear
      Children under 5 years of age are carried free, providing they do not occupy a seat and are accompanied by a fare-paying passenger or a pass holder. Up to three children under 5 years of age may travel free with any passenger. Any more than three children under 5 years should be charged half the adult fare. Children aged 5 and under 14 are charged half the adult fare for any journey starting or finishing in Tyne & Wear.

      Tyne & Wear child fares are subsidised before 1900 hours on Monday to Friday and at all time during August. During these periods children aged 5 and under 16 who have a valid 'under 16 card' may travel for 40p single or 50p Transfare. Outside these periods 60p single or 70p Transfare will apply. On cross-boundary journeys the appropriate fare should be paid to the Tyne & Wear boundary and then half fare from the boundary point (children aged 5 and under 16).
    • Northumberland
      Children under 5 years of age are carried free, providing they do not occupy a seat and are accompanied by a fare-paying passenger or a pass holder. Up to three children under 5 years of age may travel free with any passenger. Any more than three children under 5 years should be charged half the adult fare. Children aged 5 and under 14 are charged half the adult fare for any journey starting or finishing in Northumberland.
    • Cumbria
      Children under 5 years of age are carried free, providing they do not occupy a seat and are accompanied by a fare-paying passenger or a pass holder. Up to three children under 5 years of age may travel free with any passenger. Any more than three children under 5 years should be charged half adult fare. Children aged 5 and under 16 are charged half the adult fare for any journey within Cumbria.
  • Family tickets are for a group of 5 consisting of up to 2 adults and up to 3 children.
