Nick Knox, area managing director for Arriva North East, said: “We are delighted to be operating the Northern Dalesman and we hope we can attract more and more passengers to this special service. I know our drivers are really looking forward to transporting our passengers across this beautiful and scenic countryside.”

The service has been made possible through funding from the Yorkshire Dales Society, a small dales based charity, with the aim of encouraging people to leave their cars behind and save on petrol costs by using the bus.

Colin Speakman, Chairman of the Yorkshire Dales Society, said: “Working in partnership with Arriva North East has allowed us to give the people of Darlington and Richmond a fantastic new Sunday and Bank Holiday bus service into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  We think the new service will prove to be extremely popular with the public and will also help boost the local economy by bringing visitors into the area”

Arriva North East multi journey tickets will be available to use on board and are valid on the new service as far as Reeth.

To celebrate the launch Arriva North East are giving passengers the chance to win a luxury hamper filled with local produce from the area. For more information and details on how to enter visit arrivabus.co.uk/dalesbus-competition
