New Northern Dalesman route launched
Arriva North East is set to launch the new Northern Dalesman DalesBus route in partnership with the Yorkshire Dales Society on Sunday 6 May.
The Northern Dalesman service, which will start on May 6, will run on Sundays and Bank Holidays and links Darlington with Upper Swaledale. It will take in the dramatic Buttertubs Pass to Hawes in Wensleydale, then on past the famous Ribblehead Viaduct to Ingleton, making the Northern Dalesman one of the most spectacular bus services in England.
Nick Knox, area managing director for Arriva North East, said: “We are delighted to be operating the Northern Dalesman and we hope we can attract more and more passengers to this special service. I know our drivers are really looking forward to transporting our passengers across this beautiful and scenic countryside.”
The service has been made possible through funding from the Yorkshire Dales Society, a small dales based charity, with the aim of encouraging people to leave their cars behind and save on petrol costs by using the bus.
Colin Speakman, Chairman of the Yorkshire Dales Society, said: “Working in partnership with Arriva North East has allowed us to give the people of Darlington and Richmond a fantastic new Sunday and Bank Holiday bus service into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. We think the new service will prove to be extremely popular with the public and will also help boost the local economy by bringing visitors into the area”
Arriva North East multi journey tickets will be available to use on board and are valid on the new service as far as Reeth.
