VIPs drive forward local transport partnerships
Dignitaries, VIPs and transport officials from across Merseyside were all aboard at Arriva’s second annual bus travel partnership event last Friday (20th July), at the legendary Aintree Racecourses.
More than 20 MPs, mayors, councillors, local transport officials and guests attended the event and were given the chance to see if they had what it takes to be a bus driver by driving one of Arriva’s ‘bendy’ buses.
Contestants were invited to run through the safety checks drivers must complete before buses go out on the road, before taking one of the 60ft long buses around a course set by a driving examiner.
Howard Farrall, area managing director for Arriva Merseyside said: “We are committed to building and maintaining strong relationships with our partners here in Merseyside.
“Over recent years this philosophy in working together to provide better services for the North West bus user has delivered positive results. Something that we believe events like this will help us continue to deliver going forward.
“The event was all about working together, and it was fantastic to see many of our partners come along to meet the Arriva team. Hopefully, their experience will give them a new found respect for our drivers after trying out their driving, and reversing, skills in one of our 60ft long buses!”
