Derby residents enjoy Jubilee street party to remember
Residents in Derby celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style after receiving a visit from a special Diamond Jubilee street party bus.
Residents in Sutherland Road welcomed the bus to their street party on Monday 4 June after responding to a national appeal held by Arriva.
The bus was packed with a whole host of items, including Union flags, bunting, pots of tea, a commemorative cake and red, white and blue balloons. The residents were also given a time capsule to enable them to capture the special day.
Keith Myatt, marketing and communications manager for Arriva Midlands, said: “We are delighted to have helped make the residents of Sutherland Road’s street party that extra bit special with our Diamond Jubilee bus.
“We received so many quality entries from Diamond Jubilee street party planners up-and-down the country, which made selecting a winner extremely difficult. We would like to thank everybody who took the time to get in touch with us and hope their celebrations went well.”
Earlier this year, residents were invited to apply to Arriva for the bus to add some extra sparkle to their celebrations.
