Arriva North East gets green fingers on local award

Arriva were nominated for the Green Champion Award at Star Radio’s Local Heroes event for their work on the ECO Manager initiative which aims to reduce emissions and reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

The system works by using as dashboard-mounted LED display which runs from green through amber to red depending on the level of fuel consumption. With improved awareness drivers can maximise the amount of time their bus runs in the green and save fuel. The system also makes for a smoother ride for customers.

Star Awards

Catherine Aaron from Arriva North East's Stockton Deopt was there to collect the trophy at the ceremony in Newton Aycliffe. Catherine has been instrumental in the delivery of ECO Manager in the North East and said “It’s fantastic that all our hard work and commitment is getting recognised, Darlington depot was one the first to pilot ECO Manager so it is great that their local radio station has rewarded their efforts." 

Star Radio’s Local Heroes Awards aims to celebrate and reward people and businesses who make a difference in their local community. Mark Reason, managing director for Star North East said, “We think it's about time these people are recognised and thanked in public.  We wanted to honour them for being Local Heroes at the heart of our community. Here at Star Radio we were impressed by Arriva North East’s submission and their efforts to build a greener transport service for our local area”
