Arriva Yorkshire is celebrating success after one of its ‘unsung heroes’ won a top industry award for her hard-work, loyalty and devotion to duty.

Rita Kendrick, who oversees the running of 60 vehicles and manages over 150 employees at Arriva’s Heckmondwike depot, was recognised for her efforts at the prestigious 2011 UK Bus Awards on Tuesday 29th November, after being shortlisted for the UK Bus Unsung Hero Award.

The title of ‘Unsung Hero’ is awarded to someone working in the transport industry who is well known for their devotion to duty.

Nigel Featham, managing director for Arriva Yorkshire, said “We are delighted Rita has been recognised by industry experts for the fantastic work she has done at our Heckmondwike depot.

“This award clearly demonstrates that Rita has gone above and beyond what is expected of her and is fully deserving of this accolade. Throughout her 33 years with Arriva, she has proved to be a true professional and a great ambassador for the company.”

Now in its 15th year, the UK Bus Awards aim to encourage and reward outstanding standards of customer service, high quality staff and best practice.
