Arriva comes to the rescue for residents of North Blyth, Cambois and West Sleekburn.
A vital local bus service has been saved thanks to last minute action from Arriva North East working in partnership with Northumberland County Council.
Residents in the communities of North Blyth, Cambois and West Sleekburn thought that they woud be left without any buses after their 444 bus route was cancelled by another bus company. However, a new 434 bus route will start on Monday 15th August, which will give residents a bus service to Ashington, Bedlington and will also now run to Blyth.
Speaking about the new service, Arriva North East’s Commercial Manager Mark Ellis said “we heard that the previous bus company were going to withdraw their service and we are delighted that we’ve been able to work in partnership with Northumberland County Council to provide 3 journeys per day (Monday to Saturday) between Ashington and Blyth which will run via West Sleekburn, Cambois, North Blyth and Bedlington. We appreciate just how vital the bus service is to these communities and we hope that the residents will support the new route.”
The new 434 service will run for a trial period until November 2011, click here to access the timetable
