Families invited to get arty on the buses
Arriva Yorkshire is inviting bus passengers to take part in a Family Art Day at Wakefield Bus Station this August.
We've teamed up with The Hepworth Wakefield to offer a day of free fun for the family as part of Arriva’s Community Week, running Tuesday 2 to Friday 5 August.
During the morning children can enter a drawing competition at the bus station and join the drop-in family workshop in the afternoon to create sculptures with artists from The Hepworth Wakefield. There will be some great prizes up for grabs including a pair of children’s tickets from the Wakefield Wildcats, art materials from Supplies Team, a goody bag from The Hepworth Wakefield and some Arriva Yorkshire family bus tickets for the summer holidays.
Natalie Walton, Head of Learning at The Hepworth Wakefield said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Arriva Yorkshire and help our local families to get creative this summer. We’re really looking forward to our first summer and with our bumper programme of free activities, drop-in workshops and pre-bookable events for the families, plus our riverside play area, there’s no better place to be!”
Mary Lowrey, General Manager for Arriva Yorkshire’s Wakefield Depot said: “We’re holding several events at the bus station in August as part of our ‘your buses just got better’ initiative. We are so pleased to be able to work with The Hepworth, Wakefield is a very exciting place at the moment and what a great way to celebrate.”
In order to take part in the children’s (under 14s) drawing competition you can pop along to the Wakefield Bus Station on 4 August at any time between 10am and 1pm. All materials will be provided. Families can drop-in anytime between 1.30pm and 5.00pm to take part in the free Make Your Own Sculpture workshop with The Hepworth Wakefield.
