ARRIVA - Changes to services in South East Northumberland and North Tyneside

Changes to services in South East Northumberland and North Tyneside

From Sunday 27th March, we will be making a number of changes to our services in South East Northumberland and North Tyneside. Some of these changes are made due to withdrawal of financial support to some services, low passenger numbers on services run without support from local authorities and to improve reliability on some services.

The details are as follows :-

Service 2 Blyth – Bedlington – Morpeth (Kirkhill)
This service will now run every 30 minutes before 9am, then every 20 minutes until 5pm, then every 30 minutes until 7pm and then hourly until close of service. One journey per hour will run as Service 2a and will run via Stead Lane in Bedlington to replace Service 3.

Service 3 Blyth – Cramlington – Kingston Park
This service is withdrawn due to a withdrawal of funding from the Department for Transport. Journeys between Blyth and Bedlington will be replaced by Service 2a. New Service 353 will run between Dudley and Kingston Park along the route of Service 3 (via Dinnington & Newcastle Airport). Customers between Bedlington and Cramlington can use Service 52. Customers travelling to Newcastle Airport are advised to travel to Regent Centre and change to Metro.

Services 42/43 Newcastle – Cramlington – East Hartford/Morpeth
Service 42 will be replaced by Service 43, which will run every 15 minutes between Newcastle and Cramlington via Regent Centre, Wideopen and Dudley. Buses will extend hourly from Cramlington to Morpeth via East Hartford and Stobhill, which creates a new link to Morpeth from East Hartford. Red House Farm and Bedlington will no longer be served by this service but alternatives are available.

Service 45 Newcastle – Brunswick Industrial Estate/Dinnington
Minor timetable changes to improve reliability of the service. Some afternoon peak journeys will be diverted via Great Park to improve the capacity for customers travelling into Newcastle.

Service 52 Ashington – Bedlington – Cramlington – Freeman Hospital
This service will no longer serve Red House Farm in Bedlington, but will now serve Nelson Village in Cramlington instead of Service 3. Customers from Red House Farm will still retain services 2 & X22.

Service 56 Newcastle – Killingworth – North Shields
Minor timetable changes to improve the reliability of the service (especially at peak times). More journeys will serve Quorum Business Park including all evening buses from North Shields to Newcastle.

Service 57/57a Cramlington – Whitley Bay – North Shields
Minor timetable changes to improve the reliability of the service (especially at peak times)

Service 306 Newcastle – North Shields – Tynemouth
This service will be diverted to run via Battle Hill Drive (customers on the Coast Road will be able to use Service 308 for journeys towards Newcastle & Silverlink).

Service 308 Newcastle – Whitley Bay – Blyth
Minor timetable changes to journeys on Sundays to improve reliability.

Service 350/351 Dudley Circular
These services are being replaced by new Service 353 (changes following the review of supported services by Nexus).

Service 353 Freeman Hospital/Four Lane Ends – Dudley – Newcastle Airport – Kingston Park
A new service, which replaces the Dudley Circular between Four Lane Ends and Wideopen with buses running via Killingworth and Dudley. Buses will then continue to Kingston Park running via Hazlerigg, Dinnington & Newcastle Airport to replace Service 3. Journeys on evenings and Sundays will continue from Four Lane Ends to Freeman Hospital.

Service 472 Alnwick – Shilbottle – Amble
This service will now be operated by Travelsure on behalf of Northumberland County Council with the timetable remaining the same.

Services X8/X9 Newcastle – Whitley Bay via Cobalt Business Park
Both these services will now run hourly during the day due to low passenger numbers on both services. The evening & Sunday journeys on Service X8 will continue to run with support from Nexus and the evening & Sunday journeys on Service X9 will also continue to run with support from Cobalt Business Park.
