Number changes to services X8/X9
The numbering of our X8/X9 services is being amended to aid route clarity in the sections between Coast Road and Whitley Bay.
Buses to and from Whitley Bay on the Benton/Northumberland Park/Shiremoor/Beaumont Park side will now always run as X8. Buses to and from Whitley Bay on the Battle Hill/Rake Lane/Marden side will always run as X9 (both X8 and X9 will continue to serve Cobalt Business Park en route).
To allow this re-numbering X9 journeys from Newcastle to Whitley Bay via Battle Hill and Marden will change number at Whitley Bay to continue to Newcastle as service X8 via Beaumont Park and Northumberland Park. Similarly X8 journeys from Newcastle to Whitley Bay will continue as service X9. Passengers may travel in either direction across Whitley Bay to reach their destination on the X8/X9 loop with through fares available and no change of vehicle required at Whitley Bay.
Daytime journeys on service X9 will now extend from Hartburn Road to serve the stop on the A192 adjacent to Preston Grange Morrisons (this was a customer suggestion)
