Arriva joins the Girl Guides
Gilrguiding Luton held a fun PR event up at Stockwood Park Discovery Centre on Saturday 14th May.
It was the World Games 2012, with countries including China, Australia, Brazil, Tunisia and Mexico all represented by Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from all over the town.
Arriva were delighted to be involved and sponsored a set of promotional T-Shirts which were hung up on a washing line for impact, advertising the event. Linsey Frostick, Marketing Manager said "We were happy to help such a great event. Girl Guiding is an excellent organisation and with 2012 having a summer full of sport, we were pleased to be able to offer our support."
Girls aged between 5 and 15 years entered running, hurdle, obstacle, egg and spoon and other races for medals and podium places, and had the opportunity to try crafts from around the world and end the day with a few songs around the campfire.
The sun shone down on the event all day, it was a good day had by all.
If anyone is interested in volunteering, Girlguiding Luton is calling on residents to give some time to allow local girls and young women to enjoy a wide range of exciting activities, as well as acquire new skills and experiences themselves. There are currently units with waiting lists of girls who want to take part. Events like this are just part of the range of activities open to girls and young women through guiding, in which girls and young women can grow in confidence and have fun. Girlguiding UK has an ongoing campaign to seek out more adult members. The organisation is hugely popular, with more than half a million members and volunteers around the UK.
