Bus Service Changes in Bishop Auckland, Darlington, Durham, Hartlepool, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Sunderland
There will be changes to bus services from the 28 October 2012 in the Durham and Peterlee areas.
These include the following improvements:
- A vastly improved Peterlee Network with a combined 15 minute service from Durham to Peterlee, Peterlee to Sunderland and Peterlee to Hartlepool
- An improved frequency between Darlington & Newton Aycliffe via North Road, with a bus at least every 8 minutes
- A 10 minute frequency between Coxhoe and Durham to be provided by Service(s) 56, 57 and X1
- A re-introduced, fast, Service 46 between Durham and Crook
- Increased frequency between Durham and Esh Winning on the Service 43
- Passengers travelling between Middlesbrough and Durham will benefit from an all year round evening service on Service X1
- Also, some of our less frequent services within the area will see some route and timetable amendments
Nick Knox, area managing director for Arriva North East, said: “It is important that we review our networks to ensure that we are consistently serving the majority of the people with the best possible routes and frequencies. These changes will see many improvements to our current service, with more buses per hour and faster journey times on many routes. Unfortunately there will be a few areas that will see a reduced service, however this is due to very few people travelling. We must make sure that the local communities we serve have a strong, sustainable network of bus services and these changes are part of that process.”
